• Appetizer = a small dish that you eat at the beginning of a meal (hidangan pembuka)

Contoh: One reporter might work on an appetizer, another on a main course, and a third on a dessert.

“Satu reporter mungkin mengerjakan hidangan pembuka, yang lain untuk hidangan utama, dan yang ketiga untuk hidangan penutup”

• Huruf “Z” di Amerika dilafalkan dengan Zee.

Contoh: Ada temen kalian bernama zidny. Kalian bisa menyapanya dengan kalimat Hi Zee!

• Zip code = a number that you write at the end of an address on an envelope, package etc (kode pos)

Contoh: The records will be sorted by zip code and displayed on the screen.

“Rekamannya akan disortir menurut kode pos dan ditampilkan di layar”

• Touch base = to talk to someone to find out what is happening about something (membicarakan/berbicara)

Contoh: It’s important to touch base with our allies in this issue.

“Penting untuk berbicara dengan sekutu kita dalam masalah ini”

• Heads-up = a warning that something may happen (informasi awal/peringatan)

Contoh: Here’s a heads-up for investors in real-estate stocks.

“Berikut adalah informasi awal untuk investor di saham real estat”

• 101 = showing the most basic knowledge about a subject (paling dasar)

Contoh: You should know how to boil an egg , that’s cooking 101.

“Kalian harus tahu cara merebus telur, itu masakan yang paling dasar”

• Jonesing = to want something very much (sangat ingin)

Contoh: I’m jonesing for a coffee.                                               

“Saya sangat ingin minum kopi”

• Freeway = a wide road for fast moving traffic traveling long distances, with a limited number of places at which drivers can enter and leave it (jalan besar yang lurus/jalan tol)

Contoh: The Santa Monica freeway in California.

“Jalan tol Santa Monica di California”

• Hella = very (sangat)

Contoh: It’s a hella good song.

“Itu lagu yang sangat bagus”

• Howdy = used as a greeting (halo!)

Contoh: Howdy, folks! When did you all get here?

“Halo semuanya! Kapan kalian semua sampai di sini?”
